Approvals waiting on a user only show up in two places: the unread counter on the Tasks tab in the left nav, and the approver email. Nothing shows in the notification bell.

Current behavior

The item appears under Tasks, and the unread counter there goes up.

The approver gets an email.

The bell doesn't change: no notification and no unread count.

Proposed behavior

When a PO, Payment or Payment Request is waiting on a user's approval, that user gets a notification in the bell and the unread count goes up.

Clicking the notification opens the item that needs approval, or the task in Tasks.

The notification only goes to approvers whose step is active. In a flow where approvals go in order, later approvers get notified once their step starts.

Optional: Add a setting in notification preferences for "Approval requests" (bell, email or both), so users can turn bell pings on or off.
